Meditation is like learning to swim

Once you learn deep meditation, it’s a tool you have for life. You won’t need youtube videos, guided meditations, or meditation apps. Once you know how to meditate for yourself, it’s yours, to keep, forever.

Just like learning to swim, learning meditation requires practice. To get the full benefits meditation needs daily practice. If you’re not ready and willing to take time out for your own personal practice every day, then it’s not worth starting. The key is to make meditation a habit, just like brushing your teeth.

You might get a little benefit from mindfulness practices, and guided relaxation and visualisation audio tracks and apps. However these really just scratch the surface of what is waiting for you when you practise daily deep meditation.

Are you ready?

The science of meditation

Neuroscientific research into how our brains and nervous systems function, has overwhelmingly shows that regular meditation brings astonishing benefits and advantages.

Our nervous system forms the core of our experience of reality and behavioural responses to it. It communicates with and is influenced by the nervous systems of the people around us, often in ways that we do not directly perceive.

Nervous system self-regulation is essential for maintaining healthy personal relationships, careers, creative expression, and connections with our environments. Meditation has been scientifically shown to strengthen vagal tone (a measure of cardiovascular function that facilitates adaptive responses to environmental challenge).

The myelinated vagus nerve is responsible for cueing the relaxation response of the parasympathetic nervous system, (countering reactions to stress triggers).

Your meditation teacher will assess your vagal tone in the first session of your meditation training program.

Nervous system regulation

When your nervous system feels unsafe or stressed, it is mostly functioning in sympathetic ‘go-go’ mode (adrenalin-fueled, fight-or-flight mode).

In this heightened state, The nervous system tends to generate reactions that are argumentative, criticising, blaming and demanding.

Now, imagine two nervous systems both wired in this mode and you may get a picture of an unhealthy and potentially volatile relationship. However, when the individual is met with calm, positive and warm eye-contact, with kind verbal tones in a non-threatening manner, this stimulates the vagus nerve to cue the parasympathetic nervous system that is responsible for our relaxation responses.

Meditation assists in de-escalation, conflict resolution to support showing up in our most rational, calm and present state in all areas of life.

Go beyond the monkey mind

Do you ever feel like you are peddling your way through life perpetually distracted, never fully pausing to drop into the still, calm centre of who you really are under all the thoughts, hopes, fears, dreams and chores of modern life?

The world is busy enticing you with endless distractions and addictions to further entrap you in a maze of illusions.

It’s designed to keep your attention focused on the agendas of the mass-media, news and the instant gratification of social media.

Your devices have you hooked in, locked in and hypnotised to endless scrolling, trolling and another fluffy cat video. The insidious game of mindless titillation that drains your vital energy when it is in your hand, has become the no.1 distraction in the lives of every human on the planet.

It is more touched than the people you love in your life. And it is not the enemy… the enemy is within. Our nervous systems have become habitually lazy and our ‘inner-net of our specialised technology’ is not getting utilised to its full human potential.

Now more than ever, it is vital to learn how to adapt beyond, to break free of this cycle that is contributing to illness, sickness, relationship dysfunction on our planet.

Or are you now ready to take the path of Self Mastery?

"Whatever we put our attention on will grow stronger in our life."

Zoe-Anna Bell

My studies began 30 years ago with western medicine as a Registered Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist. My curiosity lead me to the east with a desire to understand the causes of disease (beyond the medical system) and learn ways to rewire the mind and body.

As a mother of two teenage boys, daily meditation was a saving grace for my sanity. In 2011, after hitting rock bottom and going through a divorce I sought ways to balance my life as a single mum with two small children under the age of 5. Fortunately I discovered meditation, the personal practice of taking a short amount of time each day to sit with myself.

Meditation saved my life, enabling me to embody my most loving, calm, present and confident self, so that my children, friends and colleagues could depend on me. A vital practice of self-love for every parent.

I trained as a Yoga Teacher with Mark Breadner, Yoga Coach and am registered with Yoga Alliance, E-RYT 200 hours. As an experienced yoga teacher I have taught for over 10 years. The meditation program is registered and verified by Yoga Alliance as Zoe-Anna being a continuing education provider, YASEP. My meditation training lineage is a direct line to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

My teacher, Donald Shakes, trained with Carol Maher who trained in person with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. It was Maharishi that brought Transcendental Meditation to the west.

Since finishing my training 11 years ago, I have been teaching meditation to children, teenagers and adults around the world, in person and online.

My studies range from Transcendental/Mantra/Vedic meditation, Raja Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Primal Movement, Tantra, Pranayama, Breathwork, De-Armouring Massage and Somatic Bodywork.

I support each individual with the highest level of honesty, integrity and respect so increasing levels of consciousness are integrated gradually & safely.

Do I need any prior experience with meditation or yoga?

No, you don't need any prior experience. This class will be of benefit for absolute beginners and people who have experience alike.

Will this meditation conflict with my religious beliefs?

No, this meditation technique is universal and anyone from any religion (atheists too!) can learn it.

Are the online classes recorded?

No, every class is 100% live and will not be recorded to respect the privacy of all participants.

Can I come to more than one class?

Yes, you are welcome to come to more than one free live online meditation class.

Can my children or grandparents learn this meditation

Yes, Zoe-Anna has taught this meditation to children over the age of 6, teenagers and adults for over 11 years. Young people get the same benefits as adults from meditation and it's a great practice to develop their minds, discipline and awareness. Age does not matter.

Can someone with a disability learn meditation?

Yes, depending on the disability and ability to follow instructions. Zoe-Anna has taught children with autism and ADHD with excellent results.

Can I learn with my children or have a friend with me?

No, it is important to be alone as a child will imitate you and the mantra you learn in your meditation is specific to you and age appropriate. This is for you and you only. It is not appropriate to have a friend with you and it is important to not pass your mantra onto a friend, even if they ask you. However, children that are learning may have a parent present.
